Digital Product Passports are emerging as a regulatory and operational mechanism for transparency across product lifecycles. They require coordinated information from multiple actors — manufacturers, suppliers, recyclers, regulators — and span sustainability, compliance, and operational data. In global supply ecosystems this information is distributed across organisations, systems, and standards. DPPs cannot be implemented as centralised databases; they must work as federated knowledge structures with consistent semantics.

The SDR challenge concerns whether DPP information can be made simultaneously regulatory-credible and operationally reusable. The goal is to study how semantic structuring enables consistent DPP interpretation across actors without requiring full data centralisation.

Practical exploration of how existing product and supplier information can be structured according to SDR principles in real enterprise environments.
